The multivariable equation involving Palestinians and Israelis is becoming more complicated. In the latest development, after officials of the Palestinian Authority concluded that peace talks were at a deadlock, they owned up to failure of 18 years of negotiations with Israel and called for unilateral establishment of an independent Palestinian state by the United Nations.i

It would be probably the bitterest experiences for those who maintained that negotiation was the only way to establish an independent Palestinian state and snubbed at armed struggle to confess that many years of negotiations have born no fruit.i

But what is the main reason behind the recent behavior and remarks made by officials of the Palestinian Authority?i

It is quite natural for Palestinian authorities, who have witnessed that the United States has failed to make Israel give up its unilateral .....i

چکیده: تركيب دولت لبنان که متناسب با فرمول 15-10-5 (15 وزير براي جریان 14 مارس، 10 وزير براي جریان 8 مارس و 5 وزير نيز به عنوان سهم رييس جمهوري) است مي تواند در روند تصميم گيري هاي دولت ميان گروه هاي لبنان توازن برقرار كند. از اين نظر كه هرچند جريان اكثريت 14 مارس دارای 15 عضو در کابينه است، با توجه به حضور ده نفره از اعضاي گروه 8 مارس در کابينه، هيچ يک از دو طرف نمی تواند کنترل کامل داشته باشد.

Lebanon is the country of political alienation and reconciliation. For some time, differences are highlighted followed by a period of unity. It seems that now it is time for the Lebanese factions to unite. l

The standoff over establishment of a new government, which was threatening political stability in Lebanon, was overcome on Monday, November 9, after 136 days of intense consultations and the national unity government announced its establishment at the presidential palace in east Beirut, led by Saad Hariri. l

What led to the establishment of the new Lebanese government after a period of 4.5 months? l

Only a few days after controversial announcement of elections for president of the Palestinian Authority and parliament on 24 January 2010 and while many observers maintained that Mahmoud Abbas had the best chance to win that election, it was announced last Thursday that he had no plan to take part in the election.l

Abu Mazen has made this decision at a time that the Middle East peace process is surrounded by ambiguities after US officials announced that halting construction of Jewish settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem cannot be a precondition for starting peace talks. One ambiguity is whether Abu Mazen is serious in his decision or is just trying to put more pressure on the United States in order to include settlements in the agenda of peace talks?l

Putting all his hope in Obama, Abu Mazen expected Obama to ....l
